What are the first steps after an initial diagnosis of Usher syndrome?

Enrollment in early intervention and education programs for the deaf and hard of hearing are important. Hearing aids and cochlear implants are recommended. Evaluation of eyesight is recommended so that Braille instruction, low-vision services or auditory training can begin.
