What is Pendred syndrome?

Pendred syndrome is a genetic disorder. People with Pendred syndrome have hearing loss usually from birth. It also causes thyroid problems and causes problems with the inner ear that leads to balance problems. The symptoms vary, with some people being more severely affected and others having mild symptoms, even in the same family.
