When will I notice an improvement in hearing after my stapedectomy for otosclerosis?

Some people notice an improvement in their hearing right away, even during the surgery itself. However, because some swelling occurs in the ear after the surgery, hearing might seem to get a bit worse right after surgery. Most people notice their hearing to improve within the first 3 weeks after surgery. The maximum improvement in hearing may take up to 6 months.
