Will my insurance cover genetic testing for Fabry disease?

Most health insurance companies will cover most testing costs if you have symptoms or a family history of the condition. Your doctor or genetic counselor might need to write a letter to explain why testing is needed (medically necessary). If you are being testing for Fabry disease through the AAKP/Emory Fabry Testing Project, your testing will be free of charge and your insurance will not be billed for the test. http://genetics.emory.edu/patient-care/lysosomal-storage-disease-center/lab-testing.html Other free or low cost testing options can be found at this website.
